Introduction
The Pun Community Museum
The Pun Community Museum is located on the beautiful Karbakeli Hill- besides Karbakeli Than in Kaphaldanra, Annapurna Municipality -8 north of Myagdi, Nepal. In ancient times, our ancestors used to hunt in this region. They slowly gathered and began to settle down. Understandably, the
inhabitants started to spread out in the surrounding areas as time goes by. Hence all the Puns are historically, geographically and ethnically connected to the hill.
The two floors Museum was built solely by donation from kind Puns in the country and around the world. The bottom floor is designated to living museum, which stimulates a past time period like Dhiki and Janto allowing visitors to touch and experience the lifestyle more. The upper floor is main gallery and has exhibits mainly for Pun traditional costumes, cultures, ornaments, photographs, musical instruments etc and illustrates ways of our livings.
The Karbakeli Hill has spectacular views in all directions. A stunning Himalayan range to the north includes Dhawalagiri, Maana-pathi, Annapurna, Fish tail and Nilgiri. The largest river in Nepal, Kali Gandaki follows through Beni along Baglung to the south. Virtually all villages in the horizon are observable. The Phulbari and Poon Hill are just few hours trekking to the north. The Galeswor is in the south where thousands of Hindus come to worship.
A big community Home stay is nearby. Moreover, visitors can stay with villagers to experience their food, culture and their lifestyles.
There are many options to get to Karbakeli Hill. Gravel roads are connected to the village from different directions. Beni is nearest town from where a Jeep can be caught either through Mallaj, Lopre or Tiplyang, Histan. Some prefer to trek to witness the natural beauty and improve fitness. For
